From technical debt to a record organic revenue channel
Situation
Acelera is a Dutch Shopify-native cycling-apparel brand for men and women across Essential, Intermediate, and Pro ranges, with more than 90,000 riders as customers.
To build a durable organic performance, Acelera started an ongoing monthly GEO program, covering technical foundations, content, and, increasingly, visibility inside AI assistants.
Problem
Before the program started, the site carried real technical debt: unresolved 404 errors with no redirect strategy, canonical inconsistencies, incomplete hreflang tags across Acelera's many country and language variants, and a sitemap cluttered with orphan pages. Most collection pages also had little to no on-page content or FAQs to target search intent, and the brand's presence in AI-driven answers was largely unmanaged.
Solution
The program combined technical clean-up with a content and entity strategy built for both classic organic search and AI assistants:
Full technical clean-up: 404 redirect mapping, canonical fixes, hreflang corrections, and sitemap/orphan-page clean-up
New collection-page content and FAQs based on keyword and AI-prompt research
Internal linking restructure to spread authority more evenly across collections
Entity and brand-consistency research, including a Wikidata entry to support recognition by AI crawlers and assistants
Building organic and AI visibility
Acelera's most valuable URLs are its dames and heren collection pages, split by product type (fietsbroeken, fietsshirts, jackets, accessoires) and by range (Essential, Intermediate, Pro). Each of these needed dedicated content, FAQs, and, for AI-crawler readability, an intro paragraph above the product grid.
On top of on-page work, a Wikidata entry and an entity-consistency audit across platforms were used to make sure Acelera is represented accurately wherever AI assistants and search engines pull brand information from.
Result
Comparing August 2025 to August 2026, organic traffic to Acelera grew +641%, with organic clicks and impressions climbing alongside it and average engagement time up +225%. Visits arriving via AI assistants also began appearing meaningfully in the data for the first time.
Most importantly, that traffic converted: organic Shopify orders grew by three times, and organic Shopify revenue grew around 6.5 times over the same period, making organic search one of Acelera's fastest-growing revenue channels.
